Animas Lunch Report – 6/25/15 – Light at the End of the Tunnel
In 2 days, the Animas has dropped almost 1000 cfs. Light at the end of the tunnel it seems! Water clarity is slowly coming back with dropping levels. All around Southwest Colorado, we are seeing the waters recede and summer fly fishing conditions showing up!
The Rio Grande has started fishing great, but we are also seeing the Upper San Juan, Piedra, and high mountain creeks coming into shape for the summer dry fly season.
Kyle – Fished a sneaky creek today. It wasn’t lights out, but it was fruitful with a few fish to hand in a few hours.
Andy – With the Animas dropping, you are going to want to keep an eye out for caddis and possibly stones showing up. Streamers and large nymphs fished close to the bank will also bring strikes in the next few days. Keep an eye on the flows, it is shaping up!
