Soft Hackle Saturday: Peacock and Partridge

Today’s installment of the Soft Hackle Saturday highlights the Peacock and Partridge.  Also known as the Soft Hackle Peacock, this fly is wicked quick to tie and is a staple of the wet fly arsenal.  All you need is some wet fly hooks (8-16), peacock, partridge, oval gold tinsel, black thread, and about 30 minutes to crank out a pile of these bad boys.

Imitating nothing in particular, swing this fly in the current or strip it in still water.  The Peacock and Partridge absolutely kills it during summer caddis hatches when you can’t get anything on top.
