Fishing: Bonefish, tarpon, and permit…with an emphasis on Permit! The Holy Grail of saltwater fly fishing. These fish will test your skills, your wit, and your will. With great numbers of permit traveling the waters that surround the lodge, you will likely have multiple shots and see multiple schools….in a single day! However, don’t think that it will be easy. They are still permit after all.
Belize has all sizes of tarpon, smaller juvenile tarpon that grow up in the mangroves ranging from 5-20lbs, and migratory ocean tarpon that swim the edges of deeper flats can push upwards of 100lbs.
Bonefish being the bread and butter of the flats. This is how you prepare for the big leagues. Even though they are the easiest to catch, bones here will still challenge the seasoned angler. Many shots at schools, as well as tailers ensure that nearly everyone can get their fill of bonefish at the Blue Bonefish. If you want a challenge, search out the big singles and doubles cruising the edges of flats.
In addition to the three glamour species of the saltwater grand slam, fly fishermen can try for snook, barracuda, jacks, ladyfish, snapper, cobia, and triggerfish.

The Blue Bonefish Lodge on Ambergris Caye is a fantastic getaway for couples as well. Rates for fewer days fishing if one (or both) would like to take a day or two off of the flats and spend some time relaxing on the island, snorkeling or diving, setting up an eco-tour, and more. Ask us about additional options for folks who may not want to fish all 6 days (or none at all).
