Rio Grande Float Season Open Dates
It’s been a strange spring and early summer this year in Southwest Colorado. Thanks to the late snowstorms and rain, our rivers have been high and muddy for almost a month.
However, we have finally hit peak flows and are on the down slope of runoff. With the delayed runoff, most of the big hatches on all of our rivers (including the Rio Grande) have been pretty delayed. We are currently guiding on the Rio, but so far we have only seen a few caddis and salmonflies with the bulk of the great hatches coming in the next few weeks.
Because of these conditions, we have decided to extend our Rio Grande float season through the 12th of July. We have a lot of water to float, plenty of bugs, and great fishing to look forward to.
We are also looking at great float fishing on the Upper San Juan in the next week or so with awesome stonefly and caddis hatches on the way!
Currently we have a few guide openings (they will fill up quick), so call the shop and get on the books for one of the best dry fly experiences you can have in Colorado.
