The Sage TROUT LL fly rod is the new trout hotness out for 2020. Since we filmed this quick review, we noticed a lot of less than stellar press for this rod on the web from rod shootouts to reviews to comments. One thing we saw is that ALL of these reviews and comments mostly come from folks who have tested out the 9′ 5 weight version of the TROUT LL.
Strangely enough, while we have found that the 5 weight is not nearly as terrible as everyone says, no one is mentioning or reviwing the lighter weight versions of the Trout LL. We have found that the 3 and 4 weight models of the LL to be some of the best 3 and 4 weights that are currently available and are absolutely worth you giving a cast. We think you might fall in love. They feel noticably different than the 5 weight and cast like a dream.
In this video of our Sage TROUT LL fly rod review, we cast the 486-4 model at the IFTD casting pond. We have spent a bit of time casting and fishing this rod in Southwest Colorado and find it to be our absolute favorite in this lineup. It is THE perfect summer rod for dry flies and dry-dropper rigs on small to medium-sized trout rivers.
