Animas Lunch Report 3/26/15 – Kyle’s Hipster Lunch
This is what Kyle is having for lunch. Seriously look at this thing, it’s like something you would find on Pinterest. It even has kale. It better be locally sourced, organically grown, humanely raised, and fair trade kale. No this is not a stock photo, this is really Kyle’s lunch. We drank coffee and talked about it.
Today for our Lunch Report, we have a little news along with our report:
Open Fly Tying Night
Tonight is our Open Tying Night at the shop. Bring your gear and come tie from 6-8pm. Andy will be tying these: Complex Twist Mugger.
New Mexico SB226 – VETO THIS
If you have not read about SB226, do so now and then give the office of the governor a call and tell them to veto this silliness. READ MORE HERE
The Drake Has Arrived
I know we have some that are chomping at the bit to get their hands on the Spring 2015 issue of the Drake Mag (us included). Well it has arrived in the shop and is waiting for you!
Finally, The Animas Lunch Report
Well they still have the heavy machinery in the river at high bridge. They are putting in a new water line and it is muddying up the river for sure. There is still work at Smelter and Lightner is pushing some color. All this to say that if you are gonna get out, fish dark nymphs and streamers. This seems to be a mantra lately. The actual river flows are leveling out for now around 524 cfs. Keep an eye on the skies for BWOs.
Andy – Skipped the mess and fished the Animas upriver of Lightner. Water clarity is really good…but they did not seem to want to eat swung streamers. Look for deep holes and fish baetis nymphs. The water is cold and I think the fish are sticking to the depths of slower holes. I did see a few BWOs coming off though.
