Christmas Island Outfitters – Hosted Trip to Kiritimati Island with Duranglers
Escape the cold of winter and come fish the flats of Christmas Island with Duranglers. Located just 144 miles north of the equator and smack dab in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, Christmas Island (also known as Kiritimati) supports a very diverse and consistent saltwater fishery.
Dates: TBD
The Fishery: While known predominantly as a Bonefish and Giant Trevally destination, the Christmas Island fishery is much more diverse than that. On the flats of Christmas Island, you can find 3 species of trevally, triggerfish, sweetlips snapper, milkfish and black tip sharks. Your day will start with either a boat ride or truck ride to the flats, and then wading wherever your legs will take you as most of the fishing on Christmas Island is done on foot.
There are also bluewater opportunities located just outside the reef with Tuna, Wahoo, Giant Trevally and Sailfish being in the mix.
Lodging: The lodging at Christmas Island is simple and rustic. Christmas Island outfitters has some of the newest accommodations on the island with air conditioning, private bathrooms and mini fridges in every room. Located on the ocean side of the island, the lodge sits on a beautiful section of beach and you can fall asleep listening to the waves crashing on the reef.
Itinerary:
