Pira Lodge, Argentina – Duranglers Hosted Trip – Golden Dorado As Far as the Eye Can See
Pira Lodge is located in Northern Argentina’s Iberá Marshlands and is protected by a natural preserve more than twice the size of the Florida Everglades. Fishing for Golden Dorado, one of the most voracious and beautiful species to swim the planet, takes place aboard a fleet of 16-foot Hell’s Bay flats skiffs. You’ll dodge caymans and catch freshwater Dorado in the 5-to 20- pound class on everything from dry flies to stripped streamers. When your fishing day’s done, decompress and take in a traditional asado at one of the finest lodges fishing has to offer. However, it is the electric take and dazzling fight of the Dorado that bring fishermen back year after year!
Dates: TBD
Fishing Program: The freshwater Dorado is a hard fighting and acrobatic fish, well known for strong runs and relentless jumps. Throughout much of its range, the Dorado is caught in coloured or murky waters and generally with heavy spinning tackle.
The establishment of Pirá lodge in the Iberá marshland has generated a new alternative, allowing for clear water fishing on light spinning tackle and fly rods, with plenty of opportunity for sight casting. 7 and 8 weigh 9 foot rods are recommended, as well as floating and sinking heads. Traditional saltwater streamers and deceivers in black, purple chartreuse and white complete the required gear. It is also not uncommon to catch plenty of dorado on topwater bass and pike poppers, sliders, gurglers, and mouse patterns.
Non-fishing activities such as horseback riding, or bird watching are available to allow guests to enjoy the amazing wildlife in the area. The swimming pool is the perfect place for relaxing and sunbathing. Snorkeling and night expeditions into the Marsh are also exciting options.
Transport is provided from the lodge´s private dock to the fisheries in Hells Bay flat skiffs, fitted with VHF radios.
