The RepYourWater 5 Rivers Trout Unlimited San Juan Cutthroat Trucker Hat was designed by Garrison Doctor, owner of RepYourWater and celebrates our local native cutthroat species. Commissioned by our local 5 Rivers Trout Unlimited chapter and benefiting the local conservation efforts, this illustrated patch comes after the recent discovery of surviving populations of the once thought extinct cutthroat subspecies.
In 2018, researchers from the University of Colorado used advanced DNA testing to link cutthroat found in the San Juan River Basin to fish samples collected and preserved in 1874 by naturalist Charles E.
