The 4th of July is for Celebrating America
‘Merica! ‘Murica! ‘Merica! USA! USA! USA! The 4th of July is almost here! Booyah!
Durango is absolutely bustling with activity this week. The 4th of July week is the busiest week of the year here in our corner of Colorado. This might as well be considered the height of summer, not just for fly fishing, but for tourism in general. It’s going to be a party out there, so bust out the old glory swim trunks and stars and stripes tank top! USA!!!
Ok…so maybe with the 4th has become something a little more than it was intended. For some, it seems that it has evolved into a nationalistic hyperbole. An over-the-top parody of a holiday where we eat, drink, and blow stuff up.
Hey, it’s all pretty fun though.
It is good to take a moment of pause from the absurdity and be reminded that America, is in fact, a pretty great place to call home. From the safety and security American’s enjoy, to the opportunities afforded in this nation for those who want to grow and work hard; we love this country.
Because of this, we as fly shop do like to support local Durango businesses and American companies when and where we can. We take pride in carrying products that carry the label “Made in U.S.A.” That’s why, when you look at our online store, we have a whole section that lists all the products we carry that are made in America.

All in all, the 4th of July is a great time to celebrate our home country. It’s a great time to support American companies and local businesses. If you are in Durango this week, hopefully we will see you in the shop or on the water!
