Animas Lunch Report – 5/6/15 – Facebook Politics
This installment of the Animas Lunch Report really has nothing to do with Facebook, or politics. Just how to make the world a better place through fly fishing.
Protip: the next time you want to emotionally react to someone’s political opinion on Facebook; you should go fishing instead. Resist the urge to explain to them that their ideals will drive America into the next Great-Communist-Depression.
Step away from the keyboard.
So what if their dearly held belief will drive this nation back into the dark ages of indentured servitude. So what if the ideology they grip with white knuckles will one day cause us all to live in cardboard boxes, enslaved to the cybernetic implants we once sought so dearly to posses. So what if the party they support will inevitably usher in the blackened-sky-scorched-earth-self-aware-machine-robot-apocalypse.
Just go fishing. The trout are probably rising.
Resist the temptation to eloquently present your friend (or frenemy) with your perfectly formulated and ironclad logic. You (and the rest of your Facebook friends) might just be better for it. Plus if you do this every time you see an ignorant comment; you will go fishing a whole lot!
After all, it is just an opinion they hold. We all have one. Rarely do they lead to the world ending conclusions we have drawn up in our mind.
Until they do, but by that point it doesn’t matter anyway.
Andy – The Animas is currently chillin at a cool 1260 cfs and rising. As you can see above: mocha latte. Time to do some fun floats and forget about fishing for a while…
…ok who am I kidding we never forget about fishing. Plus, there is a whole heap of fish to be caught right now. Check out our guide to Fly Fishing During Runoff featured on today on durango.org!
Kyle – As Kyle is leaving for Belize this Saturday on a Duranglers hosted trip to chase tarpon, permit, and bonefish; he has mentally checked out of all things that do not concern sand, sun, and tropical drinks. Stay tuned for follow up photos and report!
