Animas Lunch Report – 5/25/16 – San Juan Dreaming
Now I know this is the “Animas Lunch Report”, but the Animas is blown and muddy…whereas the San Juan River is absolutely righteous right now. As we stated in our post from yesterday, the the San Juan River is at 5000 CFS. Don’t let the high flows fool you; this is like a reset button for the river that has suffered from low flows for a good many years. Fishing 4x with big flies to gorging fish (there is a ton of food in the system) is on right now.
Charlie made an afternoon trip yesterday with friends Matt and Nick of Two Fisted Heart Productions (see the Fly Fishing Film Tour for some examples of Nick’s work) to the Juan to test the waters and some new flies. Safe to say Charlie’s Bloody Nose fly did the trick. Here are a few images from the sweet, sweet day.
