Animas Lunch Report 3/25/15 – Whites of Their Eyes
The Animas is looking absolutely fantastic right now for streamers and swung flies. Big dark nymphs are also an option. Our river reports section was just updated, so check that out because a lot of rivers are picking up and fishing good!
Also, these MFC Rubber Legged buggers just came in along with these amazing MFC artist fly boxes. Stop in the shop to check them out, these buggers are killer for spring. We will also have them on our online shop shortly. Yes, that is Johnny Cash and Clint Eastwood…
Kyle – Chucked a brown sparkle minnow on lunch and had a trout flash at it. The river is still REALLY cold, so make sure you are getting down deep with your bugs.
Andy – Took a lunch walk along the Animas River Trail. There were less fisherman out than I expected (one). Days like today are one of the reasons why I live in Durango. The Animas has the clarity of pea soup in town and is holding around 540 cfs, good clarity for a large dark nymph or streamer. Saw a few BWOs fluttering about too.
Here is my motto for spring on the Animal: “Keep fishing streamers until you see the whites of the risers eyes…”
Hey, how about a simple to tie, but very effective articulated streamer for spring? Check out the Kelly Galloup’s Articulated Peanut Envy tied by Fly Fishing the Ozarks!
I’m liking the uptick in blog posts guys. Keep up the good work!
Hey James,
Thanks for the good word and thanks for reading! We will keep em going for sure! Take care,
-Andy
