Animas Lunch Report – 4/14/15 – Just in Time
Corky – Fishing the Animas the past few days has been really good. The fishing has been picking up around 11ish through about 5pm. Baetis nymphs and emergers are taking fish as they stack up for the food conveyor belt below riffle drops. In the runs look for a fish or two behind most of the likely structure. Small olive streamers seem to be the ticket with these guys.
Andy – Well it looks like the heavy machinery is out of the river at Smelter and behind the Humane Society…just in time for the flows to go back up! It looks like the warmer weather is bumping up the flows. Currently at 622, the river is slightly off color but still great for streamers and dark nymphs both small and large. Saw a few BWO shucks on the river in town but it seems the majority of the hatch is hanging out farther downstream.
Ol’ Blueeyes tells it like it is.
