Animas Lunch Report – 4/2/15 – I Take My Canyons Black
Les and Lysa may have recently skipped the local Animas lunchers for trout far more remote. A late March trek into the Black Canyon? Well yes please. Not often a destination this time of year as most fly fishers attempt to concentrate their Gunny efforts around June during the salmonfly hatch. While the summer hatches are great to try and hit…trout still exist in the Gunnison river even when the salmonflies (and crowds) do not. Baetis on the other hand, were in abundance.

Animas Lunch Report
Andy – The next few days could very well be the days that change your mind about the Animas River (no I don’t guarantee that though, it is the Animas after all). However, flows are slowly dropping thanks to some cooler temps today. Sitting at around 800 cfs…just go throw streamers. I feel like a broken record. Make sure to keep your eye out for the all elusive Animas BWO hatch. Conditions like these could produce a good emergence.
Kyle – Taco Thursday…just to mix it up.
