Animas Lunch Report – 5/4/15 – May the 4th Be With You
May the Fourth is here, bring on the weird weather and flows until summer arrives. Also get stoked on Star Wars today.
Andy – The flows bumped up over the weekend to over 1000 cfs. We are in runoff mode…although the cooler weather and rain in the past day or so has slowed down the runoff. I swung flies on lunch before I was driven off the river by rain and thunder. The water is very off color (but not unfishable). Dark streamers and large nymph junk* should do the trick. Look for fish to be moving out of the main current towards the banks with the rising water.
* (Nymph junk is anything that is big enough for the fish to see in dirty water. Stoneflies, San Juan Worms, Cranefly Larva, trout eggs, Buggers, etc.)
