Animas Lunch Report – 5/5/15 – Creek Trout
Andy – For no other reason than to say that I could, I headed to a local creek on lunch to see if I could find some small stream trout. Our local creeks are high, cold, off color, and it was raining today. Irregardless, I brought in a few fish with a bead head dropper on the 1 weight. Completely worth it.
Even though we are not fully into our dry fly summer creek season; nymphs will bring you a few fish if you want to get out and explore right now. With the Animas at 1100 cfs today and most of our other local rivers chugging into runoff, options are limited. You will probably have most of the river (or creek) to yourself too.
If you have not seen it, make sure to also check out the recent Durango Herald article about the Animas River Bug Study.
