Animas Lunch Report – 6/20/16 – Oarsman
Are you an Oarsman? If you are, then this is a good time to be in southwest Colorado. The Animas, San Juan, Rio Grande, and Dolores are all going off for float fishing right now. We are seeing good hatches of caddis, stoneflies, and drakes on all our local waterways.
The Animas is off color, but the edges are clearing with about a 1.5 feet of visibility. While the flows have peaked around 2600 for the past 3 days, fish are eating. Lots of players taking swipes at streamers and we have even seen a few risers to caddis. Not to mention there have been sightings of golden stones on the Animas. A size 12 Yellow Stimulator would be a good thing to have in the box.
Now would be a good time to book a float trip. Like, for tomorrow. Here are a few shots from the past few days…
