Animas Lunch Report – 6/28/16 – Southwest Lowdown
What is the lowdown of Southwest Colorado? Well, awesome. Summer is here, fishing is fantastic all over, and Durango is just an all around great place to be right now. The Animas has dropped to floatable flows and is very clear. Flowing at about 1,500 cfs; we are seeing good hatches of caddis…along with yellow stones, drakes, and yellow sallies. Not to shabby Animas, not to shabby.
Nymphing throughout the day is producing the best fishing right now, but evening hatches of Caddis are bringing fish to the surface. Big fish will also be moving to big streamers. Post runoff has them hangry.
If you are going to be fishing in Durango soon, make sure you check out our river reports page for an up-to-date account of what is going on round here.
