Soft Hackle Saturday – Maroon Marauder

Saturdays are a pretty busy day here in the shop.  We don’t have a lot of time to post things on the website, so Kyle came up with a great blog series called Soft Hackle Saturday.  So every Saturday we are going to post a photo of a soft hackle we have tied and like to fish.

Why are we doing this?  Because we know most of you are not fishing soft hackles like you should be!  It’s time we all got stoked on swinging for trout.

Introducing Andy’s Maroon Marauder, size 12…

Andy McKinley
Andy manages Duranglers Flies and Supplies online store and web content. When he is not plugging away in the basement of Duranglers, he can be found in the shop talking weird flies, throwing spey casts for few fish, eating pizza, drinking coffee, painting, and raising a family in Southwest Colorado.

His fly fishing writings have been published on blogs such as the Daily Drake and Simms Wading Room.

Love soft hackles. I have them in many different paterns.

Me too Kit – I love me some soft hackles. I like to blend alpaca and flash budding together for the body then add some JV Hen Hackle for the action piece. I use them most often on the swing or behind a bead head nymph as a trailer. That works for me all over.
