Animas Lunch Report – 8/21/15 – Someone Turned Out The Lights
Seriously. Because for the past few days, the Animas has been fishing lights out. Either the mine spill reset the Animas, the lack of fishing pressure has them hot, or there is no bugs and the trout are starving…ok it isn’t the last one because there are tons of bugs. It’s safe to say that despite the recent doom and gloom, the fishing is completely on fire. Hoppers, tricos, mayfly emergers, nymphs, and streamers…get it in their face and the want to kill it. This guy was swung up on a streamer on none other than the Ross Animas and a Redington Dually 6wt spey.
Flowing at about 300 cfs, this weekends outlook is looking good.
As bad as it has been, I do agree this is opportunity to reset the river or rather the river has reset itself.
