Soft Hackle…Sunday? – Kyle’s Yellow and Rainbow Soft hackle Sunday? Sure why not. Since we have not been too consistent with the Soft Hackle Saturday anyway, so we figured we would keep the soft hackle installment alive on Sunday. Hopefully you are cranking out some bugs watching the Broncos right now anyway, so let this…
Animas Lunch Report – 9/8/15 – Grammar Assassins Do you know any grammar assassins? “What is a grammar assassin?” you may ask. A grammar assassin (much like a real life assassin), is someone who lies in wait, biding their time, awaiting the ideal moment to strike. Once you make that fatal [grammar] mistake, the grammar…

Duranglers September Report – The Million Dollar Month September is the month of the San Juan Skyway and the Million Dollar Highway drive. While nonetheless beautiful every other month of the year, September is of course when the mountainsides of the San Juan Skyway bursts into the bright and luminous shade of yellow which almost requires sunglasses just…
Animas Lunch Report – 9/1/15 – Watch Your Backcast Watching your backcast helps aid fly casting in a few ways: it assists with the timing of your forward cast and it also prevents you from putting your fly into trees, bushes, or your guides nose. It’s always good to watch your backcast from time to time. The…

Animas Lunch Report – 8/25/15 – It’s Shocking I will give you the bad news first: fishing on the Animas probably won’t be great this week. The DOW has been and will be shocking the Animas River for the next few days through town to gauge the fish count. This fish count has been demanded…
Animas Lunch Report – 8/21/15 – Someone Turned Out The Lights Seriously. Because for the past few days, the Animas has been fishing lights out. Either the mine spill reset the Animas, the lack of fishing pressure has them hot, or there is no bugs and the trout are starving…ok it isn’t the last one…

Animas Lunch Report – 8/18/15 – Trout are Hungry! It could be because they have not been fished at in over a week, but the trout on the Animas are very hungry right now. While there are areas of heavy metal sentiment that should be avoided, the fishing (and the waterc clarity) on the Animas…

Animas Lunch Report – 8/11/15 –2015 Dos Mosca Recap With most of the past week’s talk focused on the Animas this past week, we didn’t want to gloss over our yearly fly fishing tournament benefiting the local chapter of Big Brothers, Big Sisters. For those that don’t know, Dos Mosca of course means “2 fly”.…
Duranglers July Monthly Report – Terrestrial Time Admit it; there is no feeling quite like tying on a giant, gaudy, brightly colored, foam and deer hair covered monstrosity. Any fish that would eat such a fly is worth the pursuit. August marks the beginning of terrestrial time on the majority of Colorado waters, and the…
